Sycamore scales KT’s intelligent optical mesh network

USA: Sycamore Networks Solutions Inc., a Marlin Equity Partners portfolio company, announced that KT (formerly Korea Telecom), the largest communication service provider in South Korea, has enhanced their intelligent optical mesh network with the deployment of terabit-level switching capacity in additional core sites in their nationwide backbone network.

The Sycamore solution, offered through the company’s valued-added partner FO&T, enables KT to reduce operational expenses while improving service performance and reliability for the benefit of its end-user customers.

“We are pleased to continue to support KT as their critical infrastructure needs evolve,” said John Scully, president and CEO, Sycamore. “As media-rich subscriber traffic places increased demands on core networks, the ability to efficiently scale and intelligently manage service capacity has become increasingly critical to our Tier 1 customers.”

Consistently recognized worldwide for their leading-edge broadband services, KT relies on Sycamore’s scalable SN 16000 intelligent optical switching platform and intelligent control plane software to increase the performance and scalability of their broadband communications infrastructure.

Sycamore’s dynamic, GMPLS-based control plane solution enables service providers to simplify end-to-end provisioning and create a resilient and scalable foundation for the delivery of a broad range of value-added voice, video and data services.
