Residents of Rajkot can now pay their property taxes through mobile phones

RAJKOT, INDIA: Rajkot Municipal Corp. (RMC) has become the first municipal corporation in Gujarat to introduce property tax collection through mobile phones. It has tied up with atom technologies, a leader in providing mobile commerce (m-commerce) solutions, for implementing its mobile payment and IVR payment platforms.

In this era of information technology and high-tech services, it is indeed heartening to see civic bodies such as the RMC embracing technological innovations for offering better services to citizens. Its latest initiative in partnership with atom is in line with various other plans implemented by RMC for improving its citizen-focussed services for serving people better and more efficiently.

Ajay Bhadoo, Municipal Commissioner of RMC, said: “Property tax contributes the largest share of our total daily collections. We are glad that through our partnership with atom, we will be able to provide an alternative option to the people of this city to make their property tax payments at their convenience using their mobile phones. We are also sure of improving our collections and reducing the overhead costs involved by facilitating property collection through atom’s payment platform.”
