Mindspeed to showcase LTE small cell base station advances

Mobile Asia Congress 2011, NEWPORT BEACH, USA: Mindspeed Technologies Inc. will be demonstrating next-generation long-term evolution (LTE) base station advances based on the company’s Transcede SoC solution at Mobile Asia Congress, which will be held November 16-17 at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre in Hong Kong, China.

Mindspeed’s Transcede 4000 processor family provides a single SoC eNodeB solution offering 3GPP LTE Layer 1, Layer 2 and Layer 3 processing with picocell performance. The Transcede solution supports multiple radio access network (RAN) technologies, including wideband code-division multiple access (W-CDMA), LTE, LTE time-division duplex (TD-LTE) and time division synchronous code division multiple access (TD-SCDMA) air-interface standards.

“Transcede-based solutions offer advanced processing capability, multi-standard operation including TD-LTE and the highest levels of integration to manufacturers of next-generation small cells,” said Alan Taylor, director of marketing for the communications convergence processing (CCP) business unit at Mindspeed. “We are helping to drive convergence in mobile broadband infrastructure by moving more processing power into cost-optimized equipment located closer to the subscriber.”

Mindspeed will be hosting LTE eNodeB demonstrations in meeting room MR8, featuring the company’s small cell reference unit powered by the Transcede SoC processor. The demo will show a complete pre-integrated eNodeB solution combining the Mindspeed Transcede solution with the Trillium protocol software and application framework from Radisys Corporation communicating via RF to a commercial LTE smart phone at high data rates over a full duplex connection.
