CPqD, Padtec and Civcom to design 100Gbps module for high speed optical transmission

PETACH TIKWA, ISRAEL: CPqD, Padtec and its subsidiary Civcom announced an agreement for research and development of modules for optical transmission equipment at high speed. The goal would be to create a new generation of optical communication systems for broadband, which would enable transmission rates of up to 8Tbps per fiber, and is expected to bring products to market in the second quarter of 2012.

The modules, which are developed by the partnership and provided by Civcom - an Israeli high speed optical transceiver manufacturer - will be integrated initially into the equipment of Padtec, the largest manufacturer of optical transmission systems in Latin America, and later on will be offered to the global market.

The project is a continuation of 100 Gigabit Ethernet Project, which has been conducted since 2010 by CPqD based on DWDM (Dense Wavelength Division Multiplexing).

"With this agreement, we're combining the knowledge of CPqD technology in optical transmission at 100Gbps and the experience of Padtec and Civcom in the area of production engineering in order to speed-up the introduction of new products into the market," said in a statement Helio Graciosa, president of CPqD.

"This innovative technology developed by CPqD in Brazil in partnership with Padtec and Civcom will be made available globally to potential customers investing in optical networks to meet growing global demand for bandwidth” Stated Jorge Salomão Pereira, president of Padtec.

“We are excited to be part of this joint project for100Gbps, as it complements Civcom’s offering of 1Gbps-10Gbps, 12.5Gbps through 40Gbps product lines, and provides a complete solution for our customers’ need,” said Gabby Shpirer, Civcom’s CEO.
