Seachange achieves distinction in TL 9000 telecom standard certification

ACTON, USA: SeaChange International Inc. announced that it has achieved TL 9000 certification across multiple company locations –- in less than two years -– during a period of vigorous global expansion marked by the establishment of new facilities in several countries, a company acquisition and significant growth in its employee base.

The video-on-demand, IPTV and advertising systems leader joins only three other companies worldwide (including Alcatel-Lucent Shanghai Bell, Huawei Technologies, and ZTE Corp.) currently holding a TL 9000 certification (TL12957) for hardware, software and service to product category 1.2.7 application servers.

The QuEST Forum, a consortium of telecommunications suppliers and service providers, developed the TL 9000 standard using the framework of the ISO 9000 international standard as a basis to pursue a goal of global telecommunications quality and industry-wide performance excellence.

SeaChange affirmed its permanent commitment to the standard by appointing a full-time TL 9000 manager to supervise a robust internal audit program and 16 auditors representing company departments and locations globally.

“SeaChange has fully embraced a commitment to develop and implement standards throughout its history as a basic and vital means to bring digital television into widespread reality,” said Bill Styslinger, CEO, SeaChange. “I congratulate the entire SeaChange organization for its dedication in achieving TL 9000 certification. We’re confident that implementing a TL 9000-based quality management system will contribute to our further progress with telco customers globally.”

SeaChange’s telco video-on-demand, IPTV and advertising customers are among the world’s largest and best known operators. TL 9000 will benefit the full span of SeaChange software and hardware solutions for video storage and streaming, settop box applications and middleware, as well as its global 24x7 customer support organization and professional services organization. TL 9000 will also benefit the comprehensive content management services of SeaChange subsidiary On Demand Group in its provisioning of content ingest, preparation, aggregation, processing and publishing, as well as service management, including retail marketing of content within the on-demand television environment.

The TL 9000 standard defines system requirements for the design, development, production, delivery, installation and maintenance of telecom products and services and provides a measurement system that allows companies to track performance and improve results. It eliminates the need for multiple quality management standards, which reduces the cost of doing business and ultimately results in better products and services to consumers. Further, it provides a consistent set of quality expectations to drive efficiency and performance across the global telecom supply chain. TL 9000 Certification is granted following an in-depth audit process to confirm conformance to the industry requirements. SeaChange’s certification was granted by National Quality Assurance (NQA).
